Totti Considering Comeback for Italy

Francesco Totti is considering a comeback in the Italian national team. “If Lippi calls me, I would return to the national team,” said the champion.

Champion Francesco Totti is considering a return to the Italian national team. After his resignation in July 2007, the 33-year-old will be with coach Marcello Lippi to talk about his future. “If Lippi calls me, when I’m doing well and the team wants me, I would like to return to the national team,” Totti said in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

His relationship with Lippi was very solid. “I’ll never forget what he has done for me during the World Cup in Germany in 2006. He did not know me personally. As the Roma captain, I have often played against Juventus, as Lippi has trained there. He trusted me, I ‘ll never forget it, “said Totti.

The striker, who has a few days before his contract with AS Roma extended for another five years, said he would work to end his playing career as a manager at AS Roma. To a career as a coach he does not think so. Totti has spent his entire career with the Romans, where it is the most successful goal scorer in club history. The national player said he had “changed out of love and laziness” never changed the club. “I’m very lazy. At Real Madrid or FC Barcelona, I would have won much more. But I’m glad to have played in my career with a single jersey,” said Totti.
