The Australian city of Sydney has expressed interest in Formula 1. “There are still some hurdles, but I am confident that we will overcome this,” said the Minister of Development, responsible for major events of New South Wales, Ian MacDonald.

In Sydney, however, could not earlier than 2015, a Formula 1 race to go on the stage, because the contract with Melbourne as the scene of the Grand Prix of Australia runs until 2014. Sydney has, however, Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has indicated to hold a night race. This is obviously a condition of awarding a new contract due to TV coverage in Europe.

“Sydney is better than Melbourne”
“Sydney is due to the high international standing better than Melbourne,” said Minister MacDonald. The race is to the west of the city center of Sydney held in Homebush, the V8 Supercars 2009 went there for the first time

The response from Melbourne was followed promptly. “The government of New South Wales has neither the capacity nor the passion or the drive to carry out such major events as we do in Victoria,” said Melbourne’s Grand Prix boss Ron Walker: “Since the Olympics was the government of New South Wales in hibernation – they have done nothing since then.”

“It is brilliant news,” said Hamilton. The McLaren-Mercedes driver had entered 2007 in the “king class” of motor racing, Schumacher had a few months earlier ended his career.

Hamilton came out as fan
When he was still driving in junior categories, he had watched Schumacher at racing. “And I’ve always hoped that I come into Formula 1, if he is still there,” Hamilton said loudly “autosport.com.”

2010, it has come after Schumacher and Mercedes Grand Prix, the three-year commitment of the soon confirmed 41-year-olds. “I’m really looking forward to seeing him on the track and back at the top,” said Hamilton, who drives a McLaren. “He is a legend and a really nice guy.”
