Sydney Wants to Formula 1 Grand Prix at Night

Sydney wants to win the Australian Grand Prix with a night race in 2015 for himself. Melbourne Grand Prix boss Ron Walker sees in Sydney seriously saw no competitors.


The Australian city of Sydney has expressed interest in Formula 1. “There are still some hurdles, but I am confident that we will overcome this,” said the Minister of Development, responsible for major events of New South Wales, Ian MacDonald.

In Sydney, however, could not earlier than 2015, a Formula 1 race to go on the stage, because the contract with Melbourne as the scene of the Grand Prix of Australia runs until 2014. The response from Melbourne was followed promptly. “The government of New South Wales has neither the capacity nor the passion or the drive to carry out such major events as we do in Victoria,” said Melbourne’s Grand Prix boss Ron Walker: “Since the Olympics was the government of New South Wales in hibernation – they have done nothing since then.”

Schumacher’s Comeback: Hamilton Finds Great Return

Former world champion Lewis Hamilton is looking forward to the duel with the record champion Michael Schumacher. “It’s great that Michael is back in Formula 1,” said the Briton, the comeback on Wednesday confirmed the seven-time world champion from Kerpen.


“It is brilliant news,” said Hamilton. The McLaren-Mercedes driver had entered 2007 in the “king class” of motor racing, Schumacher had a few months earlier ended his career.

When he was still driving in junior categories, he had watched Schumacher at racing. “And I’ve always hoped that I come into Formula 1, if he is still there,” Hamilton said loudly “autosport.com.”

2010, it has come after Schumacher and Mercedes Grand Prix, the three-year commitment of the soon confirmed 41-year-olds. “I’m really looking forward to seeing him on the track and back at the top,” said Hamilton, who drives a McLaren. “He is a legend and a really nice guy.”
